January 24 Tutorial

I've been asked so I decided to show how I did January 24.
I'm also using screen shots so I don't have to explain all the little details.

Alright, this is the original.
(Download here if you want to follow along)

The spec's are:
Canon 350, 28-105mm f3.5-4.5
focal: 63mm
aperture: f4.0
shutter: 1/250
ISO: 400
time: 5:00-5:30

Alright open the photo in GIMP: (File > open)
Rotate then crop.

Add a new layer, and filled it with white. Switch layer mode to overlay and lower the opacity to 60%

Add another new layer then right click new tab the screen shot to see the brush settings.
Then use that brush to add shadows under, and around the sides of the car.

Now switch that layer to overlay.

Now go download this.
Once you've got it go:
File > open as layers.
Choose the photo you just downloaded.
Do not switch this layer to overlay yet!

Add new layer. Fill with a red color. I used #f80d0d.
Layer mode to overlay.

Now use #19 fuzzy brush and erase around the spots.
Make sure you've selected the red filled layer when erasing.
If your going by my screen shots that will be: New layer#3.
(I failed at naming my layers, sorry.)
And change the opacity to around 50%.

Now, If your still going by my screen shots go to the layer: New layer#2.
and change the mode to overlay.

Okay add another layer. Fill with black,
mode to overlay, and opacity to around 45%

And that's it.

I'm also adding my .xcf file
Here. (Note this will only open in Gimp)
