Your poem sounds Dr. Seuss-esque: Furry things, scary things, not really sure things? / Red fish, blue fish, one fish, two fish. :)
I love the focus on the candy; its so shallow. And what you described as a bulldog gargoyle is one of my favorite animals: a spotted flying dogbull. They are very rare and mesmerizing beasts. I've been lucky enough to see one in real life. It eats French aristocrats, apparently.
