I love the first one. That power line really helps that empty space from being "too much empty space". I also really like how you framed the person's head, very neat. And finely I like the flash use in it.
(Just a little tip). If you stop your lens down, (so a bigger number but smaller hole) to say f/16 or f/22, clouds will show up a lot clearer, bigger, and will stand out more. Like on a bright sunny day with scattered puffy clouds, and you want to get a real nice clear shot of them, then if you shoot with your lens stopped down more, they will show up a lot clearer.
And in this case with a person in front of the clouds, you could shoot at maybe f/11 or f/16 but use the flash as a fill to brighten the subjects face.
