What ISO did you shoot the bottom photo at? When you said you normally keep your ISO at 800 or 1600, this is what grain looks like in photo shot at a higher ISO. But I do love the framing, It looks really cool.
Love your new header. I'm not sure what the bottom picture is - my guess would be a marker for trucks when they back up, so they know where to stop, but maybe a light like Mimi said.

I had not read your explanation yet when I took this picture. But after reading your explanation to Muffin Head I decided to shot at 100 ISO that day. I shot this at 1/100 sec . The picture was just a black square on the computer before I brightened it.
